from the article

A group of soldiers that served in the Iron Dome system, & have become sick with cancer at the end of their time , or soon after they were released from the IDF, argue that there is a connection between their service in their medical condition to their service. a New study confirm their claims and show that the percentage of cancer in these units is high.
The IDF report different finding and ran their own study, arguing that the numbers are not unusual in any way.

The IDF protect it self

For years the IDF does not acknowledge the health effect of RF radiation levels other than the heat effect, and uses the occupational ICNIRP standard for RF measuring and thresholds.

In similar cases along the years the IDF did not acknowledge that soldiers were hurt by RF radiation. It continue to test the levels using slow meter, and looking only on the average levels (missing all the pulses RF radiation usually emitted from radar and wireless communication equipment.

It is possible to do better

If only the IDF will acknowledge the possible health effect of non thermal RF radiation, and use fast meters to measure the pulses, it would be possible to find the sources, manage the radiation exposure and reduce the risk. For example locate the emitting equipment as far away as possible from the soldiers, & ordering soldiers not to get close.

The IDF & industry must change their course and acknowledge the non-thermal health effect of RF radiation, and then take measure to reduce exposure. In any case that someone gets hurt, the army should acknowledge the RF as a probable cause, support the soldiers that were hurt, and reduce the number of RF casualties in the future.

The study

A Study published at 2018 supported the claims of the soldiers and showed that these case are nothing of the ordinary. The study was done by Prof’ Eliho Rechter , ENG Michael peleg and Or Nativ.

Using ICNIRP to show “all OK”

The IDF is using the Industrial ICNIRP standard, and measuring average levels. The peaks in these kind of systems can be 1000 times higher than the average. But the IDF reports show the “ALL OK” sign.
This must change, or we will have more victims.

Industry and army should acknalade the possible health risk and take measure to reduce exposure and risk. They should adopt a much lower safety standard and compensate the people that are hurt. Until this will happen, we will see more cases like this one.
