Radiation in a typical classroom

In a regular classroom in today’s Ministry of Education schools, the main problem is the children’s cell phones. Even if they’re kept in their bags, the smartphones continue to transmit and emit radiation, creating relatively high background radiation levels in the classroom — levels at which studies have shown biological and health effects.
In addition, there is constant radiation from the wireless router (Wi-Fi) in the classroom, as well as from wireless peripherals (Bluetooth) connected to the teacher’s computer, such as a wireless keyboard or mouse.

My daughter took a few measurements last year using her home-use radiation meter, and the results showed radiation levels ranging from 1 to 5 milliwatts per square meter — in an empty classroom, with no students present, only bags with phones, a router, a computer, and peripheral equipment.

Secret cell phone use

I can say that my daughter repeatedly reported throughout the past year that some children use their cell phones daily, secretly under the desk (and this is even in an advanced “gifted” class). Even when the teachers started collecting the phones, it didn’t succeed in stopping the usage, since some students began bringing two devices — one they handed in, and the other they used under the desk.

Even more radiation during digital lessons

During “digital” lessons, where all the students use smartphones, tablets, or laptops, the radiation increases even more. According to measurements my daughter took in class last year, it can reach up to 50 milliwatts per square meter. Needless to say, neither of my daughters participates in these lessons.

Additional radiation from external sources

All this doesn’t even take into account the radiation coming from external sources, such as a cell tower facing the school (radiofrequency radiation), or high-voltage power lines and transformers (low-frequency magnetic fields) located near the school.

Unaware of the danger, and continues to radiate

The cell phones and wireless technologies in classrooms and in children’s use endanger children’s health — not just those who are already sensitive. But the Ministry of Education and most parents keep pushing for more and more use and more and more technology, thinking it’s progress.

Change?

To be honest, last year it seemed that awareness started to grow that just having cell phones in the classroom is a problem that affects learning. Not because of radiation — but because of distractions. In Tel Aviv, it was announced that there would be no cell phones allowed in schools this year… we’ll see. Here in Zichron Yaakov, the local council also announced a similar plan, with the intention to eliminate all cell phone use in schools. Some even spoke about completely banning phones from entering the school, and that digital learning would take place via tablets… we’ll see what actually happens.

By the way, the change here in Zichron Yaakov came after a series of incidents showing a decline in children’s and teens’ behavior.

Next – AI revolution

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education announced a new revolution — introducing AI into schools. As part of this plan, there was also talk of installing small cell antennas in each classroom (called “signal boosters”), which would likely increase the radiation exposure even more.

From my narrow point of view, I hope this idea is dropped and that AI is used in classrooms through tablets and computers rather than cell phones. That way, there would be no need for more antennas and more transmissions inside the class — and my daughters could skip those lessons.

Some hope

I truly hope that this year there will be less radiation exposure in schools, and that the number of days my daughters come home from school with headaches will be lower.

In 2012 the Education Ministry started deployment of WIFI routers in Israeli schools.
Back then the idea was to use wireless laptops and tablets. They then explained that using laptops and tablets on the WIFI router will create less radiation than smartphones.
Then they switched to BYOD, using the children’s smartphones and laptops with WIFI and cellular routers.
Now the idea is to use children’s smartphones over the cellular networks, and host the cellular signal in classes (more constant radiation exposure), while the WIFI router is still on (constant radiation exposure).

I have 2 girls in Israeli schools. In both classes, there is a WIFI router, and a wireless PC (connected weirdly but still emits RF radiation), and in both classes, they already use smartphones more than once in a while (more than once in a week). Now the usage of smartphones is expected to go even higher and will be present most of the time.

AI is going to be used also by teachers to write teaching programs, write tests, check tests, and grade children.

Trying to balanch

For years, after I became EHS, and since I became an activist on the issue, I feared that my kids would also become EHS. I needed to balance between the wish for them to have low as possible EMF exposure, as I believe exposure is one of the main causes of EHS, and between the wish, of me and my wife, for them to have a normal as possible life. We did not want to restrict her life more than it needed to be, because I (her dad) was already sensitive and our lives are already very restricted with lots of limitations. We hoped it would be enough to have a low EMF house and to keep them away from smartphones and wireless devices. I knew they would be exposed outside the house, in school, and in the class. But I hoped that if the rest of the day their exposure will be low to none, it would be enough to protect their health. I was wrong. It seems that the RF radiation in the class (from smartphones and WIFI equipment) was enough to make my older daughter become EHS.

Public schools in Israel are full with RF radiation

We sent both of my daughters to public schools, knowing that in some of the classes there would be some smartphone use. Knowing that in every class there is a WIFI router that transmits all the time, and that most of the kids will have smartphones radiating from their bags (some even under the table).

This year my older kid started to learn in an Exemplary classroom (7’th grade). This means more hours, more homework, and more use of technology, some of it wireless or cellular. The classroom itself has a WIFI router installed in it.

A Few months ago, after she and her mom kept asking and asking, I gave up and allowed my older kid to get a smartphone for personal use(she was the only one in her class left without one), but under strict limitations (less than 1 hour of use per month, and with a wired connection).

No warning

There were almost no preliminary signs of her EHS condition build-up. Maybe a few, she once or twice reported feeling bad on the children’s bus and once when using the smartphone. But other than that no signs.

Now we need to overcome this terrible challenge, now she is suffering too.

Breaking point

One day, in the class, when all the kids used their smartphones for a quiz, she started feeling a headache. Her suffering continue all day long. The next day she felt bad from the start of the school day. the same for a week until we started taking actions.

Actions and steps

To cope with this new situation we set down with the school’s staff and asked for several steps:

• Allowing my daughter to go home when the pain is too much
• Allowing her to go out of the class when smartphones are used to “learn”.
• Collect all the smartphones and wireless devices at the start of the day.
• Allowing her to wear an RF Protection hat (which I manufacture) in class.
• Turning OFF the WIFI in the class when not in use – Still not done
• Turning OFF the WIFI and BLUETOOTH from the teacher’s PC when not in use – Still not done

More steps we will take/already took

• Using natural food supplements to ease the pain (GABA, Vitamin C)
• Reduce use time of wired PC at home
• Learn about EMF and EHS, especially about whys to handle EHS
• No more using public transportation. I would be taking her wherever she need in our RF protected car.
• No more using the smartphone (the use was less than 1 hour per month, now none is allowed).
• My wife will not use smartphones near our kids anymore.

We hope that will be sufficient to allow her to feel better and get better.

Video – ORT HOLON fight to remove the cell phone mast continues

In front of ORT HOLON, a High school in the city of HOLON in Israel,  a cell phone mast was erected 23 years ago.  With the increase in Data usage, the exposure levels of the kids went up every year. last year, the parents noticed that most of the kids (59%) had symptoms that could be related to RF exposure from the cell phone mast just 20 meters from the school. They conducted a survey that shows 59% of the kids have symptoms. about 19% already visited their doctor in relation to these symptoms. Since the parents understood this was not just one or 2 kids, but most of the kids, they started to fight for the removal of the mast.

Two weeks ago, after a meeting in the Knesset Internal Affairs and Environmental Protection Committee, 3 antennas that faced the school (out of a total of 9) were removed. The measured/monitored radiation levels went done just 30%. Side lobes and reflection steel seem to hit the school.

Now the parents call for the complete removal of the mast. Yesterday they got the support of the Knesset Education committee that called for the removal of the mast in no more than 3 months.

Knesset Education Committee – 24/12/2018 – “remove the antennas in front of ORT HOLON in 3 months”

Today (24/12/2018) I took part in the Knesset Education Committee.
After a 1 hour discussion, the committee called for the removal of all the mast in 3 months.
This is after kids in this scall developed radiation sickness symptoms (about 59% according to a survey done by the parents ).

This is what happens (and will happen again and again) when the standards are based on heat only and are high and non-protective.

Progress or Spin in ORT HOLON – The 3 antenna panels that were facing the school were removed – RFR level still high!

Last week the 3 antenna panels that were facing the school were removed.
RF measurements done by the parents in the school and monitoring equipment on the roof show the levels of RFR were cut (by about 50%) but are still high.
The level is too high for students that already developed symptoms and are more sensitive.
In addition, they are not low enough for the temp protection that was installed to be removed.
I explained to the parents that the levels will stay high because of side and back lobes and also reflections from the building next by since there are still active panels that are not facing the school. I told the parents to expect kids who got sick, to continue to suffer from symptoms.
Although the strick is over at this point in time, the parents told me that they will continue to fight for the removal of all the mast in other means.

Knesset (Israel Parliament) committee meeting about the cell tower next to ORT HOLON – “Remove the antennas tomorrow morning”

Yesterday I attended the Knesset (Israel Parliament) committee meeting about the cell tower next to ORT HOLON.
In the meeting, the problem of the cell tower next to the ORT HOLON school was presented and discussed.  The parents presented their case and talked about the suffering of the kids in school. Both the parents of the late Itai Peretz talked about this griff and about the symptoms Itai (my his soul rest in peace) suffered from before he got sick, with leukemia.
In the meeting, Maya Elhalal, e leading Israeli high-tech interposure and consultant to the Ministry of Health talked about his EHS condition in support of the parents of ORT Holon and the kids. She argued that the science today already inform us that EMF radiation causes biological effect well under the so-called safety standards limits and that we can do better than what we did about smoking and asbestos, and lead.
The representative of the cell phone forum (PR body of the cell phone companies) was willing to dismantle the 3 antenna panels that face the school but said that the rest of the tower has to stay and this will be done only if the parents will stop their protest and strike.
The head of the committee summaries the meeting and said the committee will send a letter to the cell phone companies to dismantle the 3 panels addressing the school “tomorrow morning” (meaning very soon) as a first step while they should start the relocation process of the remaining cell phone tower.

The authority try to calm the parents of students in ORT HOLON after feeling radiation sickness symptoms

Last week there was a meeting between representatives of the Environmental Protection Ministry, The city municipality,  the school management, ORT schools network management in Israel, and the parents of students in the ORT HOLON school.
About 20 years ago, a cell tower was erected next to the school (20 meters from it). This year the parents finally noticed that their kids suffer from headaches, nausea, fatigue, and other radiation sickness symptoms.  Last year one of the students in this school died from cancer.  The parents went on a struggle to get the tower done and they are on a two-month strike in order to achieve that.

I saw a few parts of the meeting on videos and was sorry to see that all the official representatives were addressing only the quick return of the kids to school and not the removal of the antenna. The ministry representative, Prof Gelberg told the parents all kind of technical stuff that was not accurate and very simplified and somewhat misleading, like for example that he prefer cellphone towers on public buildings and that below and above the main lobe of the antenna there is no radiation (neglecting side lower/higher beams – see picture below). He also argued that the ministry is responsible only to the radiation and measurement side of the antenna, forgetting to note that the standards used are based on heat only and are not protective of humans, that the measurements are done by slow meters and therefore give partial results. I saw the municipality representative saying they can’t do anything to help, that the tests were OK and the antenna had all the documentation (other municipalities helped in the past by finding problems in the structure or the infrastructure around the antenna and demanding it to be removed on that ground). Then the representative of ORT said that all they want is the return of the kids to school in the quickest and best way (but what about the kids that are already sick and the kids that will be sick from the radiation? ).

During the meeting, there was a protest outside the school.

There is going to be a meeting in the Israeli parliament this week (15/11/2018) about this issue. In the meeting, we expect to hear the same “not my responsibility” talks, but we hope to say the truth: Standards are high and non-protective, measurements are not done adequately, people are getting sick and everyone else just wants to continue with their daily routine.

about 60% of the students in ORT HOLON are suffering from RF Radiation sickness due to a cell tower 20 meters from the school!

According to videos and publications done by the parents of this school students (ages 12-18), it seems that about 60% of the students already suffer from headache, nausea, and other symptoms of RF Radiation Sickness.
RF Radiation test reports show average levels of up to 6uW/cm2 in the school.
The parents started a stick.
The City of Holon offered to install Temp RF protection on the windows of the classes that face the antenna. It seems that it brought a 90% reduction in RF levels.

This is possible because of the high non-protective RF so-called safety standards that allow up to 400-1000 uW/cm2. This is because of the Ministry of Environment Protection policy to comply with ICNIRP standards.  Until RF safety standards are based on Biological damage and health effects of RFR, we will see this happen again and again all over the world.

a Cell phone tower next to a school in Israel caused headaches

A Cell tower, that was erected about 10 years ago in front of a school in The Israeli city of Holon, caused headaches and other symptoms in students. The parents went on a stick and the students did not attend the school in the past few weeks.

Now an agreement was signed between the city, parents, and the Ministry of Education to install RF Blocking nets over the walls and to ban the use of cell phones in the classes.
In addition, a RF monitoring station would be installed in the school, but it’s measurement is expected to be partial and most likely will be used to calm the public as the level will always be below the standards (which are based only on thermal damage to the tissue and not on biological or health damage).

The story was reported in the local newspaper of ‘Hasikma Holon’.
I hope that this is just the first step and that the tower will be completely removed.
There is no place for cell towers near buildings and houses.
This is yet another example where the radiation from a cell phone tower caused health effects in kids. I hope this would be a lesson for those call for more cellphone towers in order to reduce the radiation levels from the phones, on the expense of 24X7 full body exposure, in multi frequencies that will rise.
